About Myself

I would like to share some memories from my artistic journey that began in my childhood.

Since childhood, I had a natural love and attraction towards art. My primary education up to the fourth grade was completed at my maternal grandparents place. This was the first time , I held a slate pencil in my hand and began drawing pictures of horses. I even started imitating their sound. Around the same period, I also started performing in cultural programs organized by the Ganesh Mandal in our locality.
Initially, my artistic abilities were appreciated, but gradually the appreciation reduced. The reason was that apart from art, I never had much interest in other academic subjects, and therefore my performance in those subjects remained average.

In the fifth grade, I moved to my father’s village, Kasba Arale in Karveer Taluka, and took admission in Madhyamik Vidyalaya, Kasba Arale. However, the period from fifth to tenth standard was extremely difficult for me. My teachers, classmates , and even people in the village often mocked, laughed off, and insulted my artistic talents.

During this time, my art teacher, Kumbhar Sir, gave me an opportunity to paint drawings on the school walls. This experience boosted my confidence greatly.
After passing the tenth standard, I got the opportunity to learn painting under the guidance of the eminent painter Sanjay Shelar. Due to our modest financial condition, my parents decided to move to Kolhapur and leave the village. Because of this situation, instead of pursuing formal education in an art college, I began working as an assistant in Shelar Sir’s studio.

One or two years after completing the tenth standard, on the occasion of my eighteenth birthday, I organized my first painting exhibition in Kolhapur on 2 April 2010 and began my professional artistic journey as an independent painter. During this period, many of my artworks received awards and appreciation. Later, I organized exhibitions at several places across Maharashtra, including Nehru Centre Art Gallery and Jehangir Art Gallery.

Back in the seventh grade, I had written a short play. From seventh to tenth standard, I was actively involved in cultural activities at school. After my first painting exhibition, my interest in writing and directing gradually drew me towards the film industry.

In 2010, I got my first opportunity to work as a still photographer in a Marathi film. From there, my journey expanded further, and I began working as an art director, storyboard artist, writer, producer, photographer, and director in short films, television serials and films.

Today, my artworks can be seen with art enthusiasts across India and abroad. Several short films directed by me have received nominations and awards at national and international film festivals. In 2024 and 2025, two of my short films, Madhubala and Dohi, received nominations for the Filmfare Awards in consecutive years.
